Psalm 16:5-6
You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands. How wonderful are your gifts to me; how good they are!”

So often I fall into some pretty selfish tendencies and I’m fairly certain I’m not alone in this. We’re all guilty of it. We wake up and want a yummy pancake breakfast, we want to put on a nice outfit for the day, and we want things to work out nicely, leaving us with a satisfied feeling at the end of the day.

That’s why obstacles and struggles during a day throw us off, leave us irritated, and leave us whining about our bad day. But what if we woke up and took on the garments of a humble servant to Jesus? What if we died to our flesh or selfish desires for things to go our way and life to flow seamlessly?

I have been working extremely hard to take on this mindset every morning and I must say, leaning more into Jesus than myself is fulfilling, satisfying, more than I could achieve all on my own. And even in the obstacles, even in the hard moments I might face, I’m covered by the love of Jesus, I’m confident in his peace, and I’m made whole and string because of his grace.

Try walking with Jesus today, not your selfish desires. It takes practice leaning into all that Jesus has for you. Start on that journey today! Take time listening to this song and make this your prayer: “give me Jesus.”
