Acts 3:19
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Repentance sounds like such a sophisticated word. I used to pretend like I knew what it meant when I was younger. I’d nod in agreeance when it was brought up in small groups and scoot to the edge of my seat if it was mentioned in a sermon. But I never quite knew the extent of what that word meant, how weighty it truly was.

To repent is defined as, “to feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin.” Regret or remorse leads to one last step, and the biggest step in repentance, turning away.

When we fully grasp the worthiness and wonderfulness of who Jesus is for us, we see our sin as something to fully turn from. We don’t cling to the old ways of life that resemble the things the world encourages. We die to those things, turn from them, make this conscience choice to repent.

Today, choose a lifestyle of worship, by repenting. Turn from your sin and watch how your relationship with Jesus blossoms.
