Philippians 4:67
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

A big developmental step for me in my faith was truly believing that God cares. Not that He cares about the whole world, that was easy to understand, He sent His Son to die for the world. It was much harder for me to truly believe that He cares for all the little things that happen in my life. It wasn’t until I started to journal my prayers that I realized how active God is in my life, how much He cares… let me explain.

I’ve prayed in my head my whole life and I’ve had some great conversations with God. I would ask for things, say thank you for things, repent, but it all focused around whatever was in my mind at that time. When I started to write things down, I could flip back and see throughout the last week how many of my worries God had solved. Little things from conversations that left unresolved or how I was going to find the time to get everything done to big things like where I am going to live or if I should stay with or break up with somebody.

God cares about every detail of your life and wants you to lean on Him for everything. This is a lesson that I still have a hard time learning because once things start to go well, I feel like I can do it on my own. But whenever I look back at my written prayers, it becomes painfully obvious that I, in fact, am deeply in need of a Savior (both for eternity and to make it to next Monday).

This week I encourage you to write your prayers. When you are thanking God, reread your requests from the day before and marvel at how much God has done for you. And don’t simply reserve asking for the big stuff, ask about anything, “by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Because He cares, and He wants to be invited into every aspect of your life. He’s there…lean on Him!
