Romans 5:5
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Music is pretty neat. I am sitting outside on a beautiful day and listening to the birds’ chirp and sing back and forth to each other. It’s not full-on Mary Poppins, but its pretty dang close.
I’ve been thinking about how music is actually a beautiful gift from God. It comes in all different shapes and sounds. It’s in creation, its on the radio, Spotify, its in the start of a lot of the tv shows we are watching, Monday Night Football theme song, and so forth. But when you start to look around, you notice more and more that music is a major part of our lives.
Why? Well, music does a wonderful job of engaging with us, interacting with us, and influencing our emotions. Some might say it comes at us in a whole different angle. It’s almost as if music comes around the backside because of how it brings up so much emotion in us.
Do you know who created music? God. And guess what. He can still use it to engage, interact, and be with us. One way that I spend time with God on a regular basis, is by listening to a playlist on Spotify entitled, “Rest in Him.” The playlist consists of different worship songs and hymns that speak of God’s love and thoughts toward those who are in Christ.
I honestly believe, that like Romans 5:5 says, the Holy Spirit has been given to us. We aren’t to live in shame but in God’s love. I would encourage you today to make a Spotify playlist or Apple Music playlist comprised of some worship music that you can listen to when spending time with God.
I believe the Holy Spirit can come around the backside of your heart, give you peace and comfort, and speak to you when you listen to worship music. Listening to music is a tangible way you can interact with God just like reading the Bible. Be encouraged today and rest in him.
