1 John 5:13
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
Have you ever had a secret that you could hardly keep to yourself? I know I have, when Annie and I found out that we were pregnant we were so excited to tell our friends and family. But we couldn’t tell them right away, keeping that secret for around 12 weeks was one of the hardest things that I have ever done. This news that we had to share was going to bring so much joy, it felt like it was going to overflow out of us. But we kept a tight lip on it and made it the 12 weeks, then it was like a “POP!” Cats out the bag and the joy that came with it was pretty sweet!
So much joy about the gift of new life. Even in the midst of this present hard time that our community, country, and the world is facing with COVID-19, there was a glimmer of joy in the telling of that news.
Do you know that we have something inside of us that brings joy and new life? That’s the hope of the Gospel. Jesus died and rose again for us and that news is the glimmer of joy that covers the pain in our world. Because of Easter, we celebrated that Jesus rose from the grave. With that comes the promise of new life for those who believe. Both now in this present life and the gift of eternity with him someday.
Though this time is tough, and boy oh boy would I like to be able to have a bible study with my small group at IN N OUT Burger (The Lord’s Beef) or Chik fil a (The Lord’s Chicken). I know that God is working in us and through us even now.
Question for you and something for you to ponder. Are you thankful for this good news? Is this news something you feel like you need to share with others? If God puts someone on your heart, someone to share this good news with, give them a text or phone call. Reach out and ask others how you can be praying for them. Why? Because the hope we have in Jesus is something we can’t keep a secret.
