Matthew 2:1-2
“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be? The wise men devoted their lives to research and when they found the star pointing to the baby Jesus they dropped everything to follow the star to Him and worship Him. I like to think that I would do the same. That I would also drop everything in my life to find Jesus. Would you?

An easy way to answer that is to ask yourself if you would drop everything to pursue Jesus now. We aren’t wise men, dedicating our lives to studying the skies (or at least I know I’m not…). But, do we even drop the little things to search for Jesus? Think about it, what is the first thing you do when you wake up? Read your Bible? Pray? I wish I could say that I always do. Usually, I respond to some texts, check Instagram, watch something online. Not very “drop everything for Jesus” of me. Also, how often do we take a picture of our food before we even pray for it. “Phone eats first” over “Thank God first.”

These thoughts aren’t meant to make you feel hopeless, but they are good indicators that we might not be doing what we should dedicate our lives towards Jesus, like the wise men did, even in little ways. If we can’t do the little things, we probably won’t do the big things. It starts small.

This week commit to one little thing. Pray every morning when you wake up, just a short prayer. Commit to listening to Christian music every time that you are in your car. Commit to limiting social media time and stop filling your head with things that don’t need to be there. Pursue Jesus even in the small stuff.
