Luke 23:44-46   It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, Into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.

It was the worst humanity could offer. The savior of the world being killed at by the hands of those whom he was trying to save. Good Friday is not good in and of itself. In fact, on that day almost 2,000 years ago Good Friday was anything but good. That is, until Jesus said his final words. When he declared “it is finished” and committed his spirit into God’s hands he completed his sinless mission. This mission that would give you and me the opportunity for life. The opportunity he extends is to take every bit of terrible, bad, and broken piece of our sinful hearts and offer it to him in an exchange for his life. Good Friday is good because Jesus’ death begins your process of new life.

May you recognize your brokenness but only long enough for it to cause you to seek him who is offering you his life.

If you would like to experience more of a Good Friday experience, open the “stations of the cross” segment in the awaken me app for a guided good Friday experience.
