“And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.” 1 Kings 19:12
School was a very stressful thing for me. I felt like all my teachers would give me busy work that overwhelmed me more than it did teach me anything. I remember a specific time during my Sophomore year of college when I had too much work than I could handle. I had three papers, three presentations, and two exams in the same week. I would stay up past midnight trying to get everything done, would barely get any sleep, and would get super anxious about my work not being good enough.
In the middle of that week, I broke down to God, crying about how drained I was. Later that day, I went to one of my classes. My professor was giving us a lecture and then broke us up into small groups to discuss what he talked about. As he was walking around the room, he came towards my group. My chair was in his way so I apologized and moved for him to get by. The simplest, yet most comforting thing happened; he laid a hand on my shoulder and said, “It’s okay.” Right then I felt God telling me that I was going to be okay. It was almost as if God had replaced my professor at that moment. I was filled with peace about all my stresses and anxieties all because of a simple sign from God that it was going to be okay.

God doesn’t only show up in the big miraculous things. He is constantly with us, protecting us and comforting us in the simplest of ways. If we search for Him, we will find Him. God’s love is bigger and stronger than Him only caring about big problems. He wants to be present in every detail of our lives.
This week as we step into whatever problems we are facing; I encourage you to seek God in the simple things. He is revealing signs of His love right in front of our faces. We just have to have the faith to notice them.
