Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Do you and your friends ever get into a funk? It’s like you have been friends forever but then little by little, there are things that chip away and finally, you find yourself one day resenting the? You don’t know why but every little thing they do sets you off. The way they talk, the way they act, the way they move. And why? Nothing is different between how they are now than before, but you all of a sudden you can’t stand it.
For me, when I get to the place in a friendship, I like to take a few steps back and look at the situation. Why am I
suddenly so annoyed? What changed? And sometimes it’s me. With God, it’s always me.
Like a friend here on earth, I talk to God. He is my greatest comfort, but when I don’t keep up that conversation, then our relationship falters. When I read passages about His love and provision it makes me angry because I
have my back turned to Him and I don’t feel it as much. I read “do not be anxious about anything…” and I instead feel angry about everything because how do I suddenly just not feel anxious?
Thankfully God is not like an earthly friend. He never changes, so you know if there’s a problem, it’s with you. The beauty of that is that God also loves you always, so even though we’re human and full of problems and we
inevitably will falter in our relationship with Him, He will never give up on us. He is always right there with open arms.

With friends, I often find that when I just have a hard conversation, everything gets better. When I share the feelings I have been harboring, when I open up about the way I have been feeling, then things become healthier and happier. With God, He invites us to do just that. He wants us to share all of our fears, hopes, and joys. God can take the good and the bad, so be honest with Him and then watch your healthy communication give birth to
a healthy relationship and lifestyle.
Today journal about something that makes you frustrated. Don’t be concerned with formality or words but give God what’s on your heart in full. Present your requests to God and then leave your anxiety with Him. He is the
ultimate friend and truly desires to be in communication with you.
