Luke 11:1
“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.”
I sometimes spend my quiet time with Jesus in such a way that feels like I’ve finally made it home. The comfort and security I begin to sink into are unlike any feeling I’ve ever had and soon I’m closer to Jesus than I thought possible.
This might come off sounding strange, especially if intentional prayer isn’t a daily thing you step into. But, as you lean into times of quiet and stillness with Jesus, He’ll slowly pull you in, remind you of how He’s loved you from the start, and make you clean from the inside out.
I have a place where I meet Jesus. I either cuddle up in the soft sheets of my bed, pull my knees to my chest in my reading chair, or lay on my yoga mat after a good stretch, and go to that place. It’s not a physical place, more a mental place, but a place none the less. It’s a garden and for the past few years, Jesus has met me in the garden, the garden of my heart.
In that mental space, with my eyes closed and my body still, I feel at home. I have conversions in my mind, ones only Jesus and I engage in. I sometimes share deep fears, exciting news; I just ramble at times, and I imagine the face of Jesus soaking in the time we’re spending. There are times when Jesus is silent. There are times when a whisper or a subtle gesture is made, but it starts with the intentionality of meeting Him in the garden to start any sort of connection point with Him.
Where are you meeting Jesus? Today, Don’t close your eyes and pray in the blank darkness of your mind. Paint a space, a flawless holy place, for you and Jesus to dwell, connect, and be near to one another. Be intentional with Jesus and I promise He’ll be intentional with you.
