Proverbs 21:3
“To do righteousness & justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”

This is such an incredible verse that reminds all of us who desire to worship Jesus through music and “worship sets.” Learning about true worship comes when we dig deeper into Scripture, and we spend intentional time seeking to strengthen our relationship with our heavenly Father. When we learn that worship is so much more than a song, an experience, certain lyrics… we will be forever changed.

So, with that being said, that is this “worship” thing, or the lifestyle of worship really about?

As I’ve been digging deep into the Word, praying, and spending time with the Lord, I feel like He put this on my heart. My prayer is that this touches your heart just like it touched mine:

Worship is the posture of our heart bowing before God with an attitude of giving Him priority and glory in and through our lives.

Basically, worship doesn’t always just look like a song or worship set at church.

There’s this King in the Bible named Solomon and he defines worship as doing what is right and acceptable to the Lord. Simply put, he is stating that pleasing God through our day-to-day activities is part of worship.

Our songs and music will make no sense if we are just singing songs without our hearts being aligned to Him and His heart. He will truly take delight in our worship when our heart is set right before Him.

It reminds me of the offering of Abel and Cain. The difference between the two brothers was the heart and attitude behind the offering to the Most High God.

And THAT is the catch. It wasn’t about the offering, but it was about the heart.

Romans 12:1 says that “I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.”

Songs and music are part of offering our worship to Jesus but the lifestyle of worship is more than a song.

The lifestyle of worship definitely means living a life that is acceptable to God and living it with a posture of our hearts devoted and inclined to the Great I Am.
