Acts 2:44
All the believers were together and had everything in common.

The Holy Spirit was sent after Jesus ascended to be with the Father. Jesus went and the Holy Spirit came. He came and he’s been here ever since.

One of the most beautiful things documented after the disciples received the Holy Spirit is what happened in their community. It says the disciples were performing miracles and all the while the people were getting along, met in the temple courts, had meals together, and lived life alongside one another with glad and sincere hearts.

When we live among one another in a spirit-filled community, it’s beautiful. There’s no jealousy or bitterness. There’s no anger or grudges being held. There is love, peace, hospitality, and kindness flowing through our every day. How wonderful is that?

Imagine living among your friends and family in this way. Imagine having calm uplifting conversations with your mom. Imagine cohesiveness and support in your friendships. Imagine the people in your life focusing so closely on Jesus’ will, that naturally, you all begin to live and love differently. It’s wild to imagine; isn’t it?

What’s even wilder is the reality it could easily be for us. It starts first with you. How are you living? Are you sensitive to the way the spirit is moving and working?

Take time today to rest with Jesus. He’s the key. Time with Jesus means time listening, growing closer, and developing a friendship with the Holy Spirit. Take time today to journal and pray. Take a second to dive deep into the love Jesus has for you and ask for your relationships to start looking something like those of the early church.
