1 Thessalonians 4:7:

“For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.”

How do we walk with Jesus, how do we live and walk on this narrow road of righteousness? It starts simply by making a choice, the choice to follow.

Following Jesus takes knowing Jesus. How do we know Jesus? We read his word. We open up our bibles, flip to the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), and take note of how Jesus lived and walked. He was a remarkable man with an astronomical amount of followers. The second we dive in and chose to follow him, our paths become a little straighter, a little more narrow, and a whole lot more righteous.

What if we stopped looking at the bible as one big book of rules that keep us from having fun? What if we looked at it for what it truly is? It’s a guide and a love story. The gospels are detailed chapters filled with the extravagant life Jesus lived and stuffed full of nuggets that help us walk in the same way he did. The stories of Jesus are in place for us to follow, be inspired by, and kick start us to put action behind that love God we have in our hearts.

Don’t be discouraged, step out and walk with Jesus in new ways. Open your bible today and ask Jesus to take your hand and begin guiding you down a road you may not even know. He has a plan for you, but we have to take a risk, grab his hand, and begin navigating the narrowest of roads with him.

That’s our best life. Walking down the road of righteousness is

our very best life.
