Proverbs 27:17
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

Friends challenge one another. True friends step up to the plate, see the potential in their closest circle of friends, and help them reach that potential.

Are you sharpening your friends? Are your friends sharpening you? What would that even truly look like?

I’ll tell you. I had a best friend in college, one who saw the gifts I had, knew what I was capable of, and wasn’t going to let me settle for less. I’d let stress and anxiety sneak in some days and I’d stay under my covers, swearing I just needed one last episode of Friends before I could come out. But she stepped in, time and time again to get me up, remind me of the truth of who God was and who I was, and she sharpened me.

After a few months of being roommates we started leading a small group of Freshman girls together. She pulled me out of bed, told me I had something to share and give these girls, and I trusted her and joined her.

She sharpened me. If it wasn’t for my best friend I wouldn’t be doing what I do now. Are your friends sharpening you, pushing you to be better, helping you walk the best walk of life you can? Don’t settle for less than that kind of friend and don’t be less of a friend. Sharpen one another.
