Isaiah 6:8
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”

So often I hear the phrase, “just show up” thrown around carelessly. We’re called to just show up. But what if we show up with a bad attitude or no clue what’s happening. What if we show up distracted or defeated? We chose to just show up for life and then what, idly stand by?

I want to encourage you to do more than just show up, show up ready, alert, and prepared. You’ve all already probably done this… you showed up to an online class or a Zoom call, but that’s all you did, you clicked a link and sat there with your camera off. You showed up (barely).

And when you left that meeting or class or call, did you leave at all changed? Nope, probably not. When you show up with the right mindset you set yourself up to succeed. When you show up eager to be a representative for Christ, you live into your calling and identity as a beloved son or daughter. When you show up, aware of your surroundings you just might feel a nudge from the holy spirit to pray for a friend or serve someone.

I know 2020 hasn’t been the easier year. We’re getting hit from all sides and we’re tired and weary, just showing up is sometimes all we can do, but take it a tiny step further from here on out. Show up with Jesus. Invite him in, even if that extra step seems intimidating or like work, don’t let it overwhelm you.

It’s as simple as this:
You’re joining a Zoom call, as the link loads pray in your mind these few words, “Jesus, be with me during this call.” When you’re driving to the grocery store or to run a quick errand pray these words, “Jesus guide me and lead me throughout this day.” When you’re getting coffee with a friend or planning to hang out with your whole friend group pray, “Jesus, be in our conversations and let us glorify you in all we do.”

Show up, but show up with Jesus.
