Matthew 14:22
“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.”

Jesus sent his disciples right into a storm. We all know this story, right? Jesus just fed the 5,000 and he’s ready for some alone prayer time with his Father, so he sends his disciples out on the sea of Galilee. He sends them off into what seems like clear waters, but only a few moments later, a massive storm hits.
We can sit and question why Jesus sent them away if there was a hug storm coming. We can get angry about it and upset, but there was purpose in that storm. Jesus sent them knowing full well how the story would unfold.
As the disciples suffer in the storm, they experience an insane sort of intimacy with Jesus. Jesus comes to them walking on water. He even calls out Peter, who joins him on the uncontrollable waves. In the midst of a scary messy storm, Jesus showed up and pulled his disciples (especially Peter), into a deeper relationship.
Your storm, whatever it may be may seem uncontrollable. You may feel like God has left you out on a rickety boat out on the raging Sea of Galilee with no hope, no help, no comfort, but I promise he hasn’t.
As you walk in this storm, start asking Jesus where he is, how he longs to meet you, and in what ways he longs to deepen his relationship with you. He uses our storms in ways we never thought possible.
