Acts 2:25-28
“I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”

God
Man, I get so excited to think about the little baby boy growing in my wife’s belly. This baby is an absolute gift of life that is coming soon that we can’t wait for. This child is going to bring so much change to our family, so much joy, and completely flip our world upside down. My prayer for our growing child is that he, just like King David, be a man after God’s own heart. More than anything I pray he will love Jesus! I say this because King David was genuine, not perfect, and consistent in seeking God. He loved the Lord his God with all his heart but had quite a few shortcomings.

He committed adultery, he had the husband of that woman killed, and he didn’t parent his children very well and had one of them actually try to kill him. The dude was by no means perfect, but he was called a man after God’s own heart. Why was that? Well for a few reasons.

One of those reasons is because the dude poured his heart before God all the time. Read the psalms and you will see that. He always tried to keep his eyes on the Lord. The verse above is a perfect example of David pouring his heart out and trusting in God. In the beginning, he says, “Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken, therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices, my body also will rest in hope.” Not only do I hope that my soon to be baby will take after David, but I also pray that over you as you read this devotional.

I pray that you will not be shaken in this time, your heart would be glad, your tongue rejoice and praise the Lord even in the midst of everything going on. I pray you’d let your body rest in the hope that only Jesus can give. Trust in the Lord today, Pour your heart out before him, try to spend ten minutes just resting in the Lord. As I pray for you and my soon to be kiddo, I hope you would take a page out of David book and be a child after God’s own heart.
