“…but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.” Luke 7:44
I worship God by drinking water. I know this sounds weird at first, but it’s true! We can worship God through so many different things.
I am not a fan of water. I don’t like drinking it and sometimes it tastes weird. I tend not to think about it, but by the end of some days, I realize I had consumed no water. This has led to many dehydration headaches.
By doing this, I am not loving my body well. God has granted me the gift of life and in order to cherish that gift, it is important to take good care of my health. So I drink water; not for myself, for God. I express my gratitude by taking care of the gift he has given me.
Whenever we do something with the mindset that we are doing it for God, that is an act of worship. I am not the only one who has an interesting way of worship. Luke 7:44 “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.”
A woman literally washed Jesus’ feet, not only with her tears but also with her hair! This is so odd to us but notice that she is doing it willingly. Jesus did not ask her to do anything. She chose to wash Jesus’ feet like this.
Her faith and gratitude for Jesus moved her to do this strange and vulnerable gesture. I am not saying you have to go worship Jesus by washing people’s feet with your tears. I am saying that there are so many ways to worship Jesus!
This week, think of something you love or maybe something you hate. Try to figure out a way you can worship Jesus through what you are doing. It can be as simple as drinking a cup of water and saying, “this is for you, God. Thank you for life, and thank you for water.”
