Luke 5:19
“When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.”
We’re called to so much more for our friends, right? Loving our friends and acquaintances superficially is easy, right? We do it constantly. What if loving our friends was deeper than a simple, “Hey, I love your shirt.” What if loving your friends meant so much more.
Have you ever heard the story of the men who drug their handicap friend to the top of a building, lowered him through the roof of a building Jesus was teaching in? Those are true friends. That’s a wild kind of love put into action for a friend.
These men stood in the gap for their disabled friend. They knew this man Jesus had the power to heal and no matter the cost, no matter the obstacles, these friends did all they could to help their friend. This man was healed. This man’s whole life was flipped upside down because of these friends.
Imagine loving and valuing your friends that much.
How are you walking and loving those around you? Is it in radical mighty ways like the story of these men?
Today, think of your friends, think of those around you. Sometimes it can simply start with a prayer. A small prayer, in the quiet of your heart, for your friends. As you pray, be attentive to ways you might be able to share the love of Jesus with them today.
