Ephesians 2:15
“… His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace..”

Perfect peace through Jesus, we act as if it’s unattainable. Correct me if I’m wrong, but we like to focus on what’s hectic, crazy, and broken. We rarely tap into the true peace Jesus promises. I can’t tell you why. Maybe it’s a part of our sinful humanity, but we talk of this peace, this great all-encompassing peace, as if we’ll never make it there.

Our country finds all sorts of ways to be pitted against one another. We fail to see one another as brothers and sisters, but majority of the time as enemies. The problem with never getting to that state of true peace is not knowing the true Jesus.

If we all knew Jesus as our savior, we’d live into the peace he promised. When he died on a sinners cross he died for you and me and our neighbors and our enemies and those nothing like us and every man and woman walking on this earth. And he didn’t just die for us, but covered our sin, our brokenness, our inherent nature to separate from God so we may be holy and blameless. And in all that, his purpose was to create “one new humanity.” Every man, every woman, with all our flaws and differences was grafted together when Jesus paid it all for our souls.

I feel deep down the reason why we yell at one another on Instagram and shout insults and hurtful things at people who aren’t just like us is because we haven’t fully accepted who Jesus is and what he did for us. His great act of love brings peace. Peace we can fully attain if we say yes to the truth of Jesus.

What would it look like if you truly lived into the peace Jesus promises? What would your friends’ lives look like if you talked with them more about this Jesus who saves lives and gives us real peace? Think good and hard about where you’re at, the way you live amongst your neighbors, and begin asking Jesus to reveal his peace, show you how to walk in that peace, and how to share that peace with everyone you come in contact with.
